Treating the deposits that reduce flow or disturb hot-water production.

Limescale can build up in some appliances and components in contact with water. Before any work, we need to identify the cause of the drop in performance and check whether descaling is really called for.

  • Water heaters and hot-water production
  • Heat exchangers depending on the equipment
  • Taps and aerators
  • Investigating a drop in flow

Where the water is hard, limescale builds up on heating surfaces, in heat exchangers, heating elements and small pipes. It reduces flow, hinders heat transfer and can raise consumption or disturb hot-water production.

Before descaling, we check that limescale really is the cause: a drop in flow or temperature can have other origins. Treatment is then limited to compatible parts, and we advise on ways to limit deposits over time.

Support for your installation

Water heater, cylinder and heat exchanger

Descaling may concern a water heater, hot-water cylinder or compatible heat exchanger, including on some Vaillant appliances. Send the model and symptoms: poor hot-water production needs to be distinguished from an adjustment, leak or combustion fault.

Address related faults separately

A leaking water heater, damaged pipework, a burner that will not start or a boiler losing pressure needs investigation. Depending on the diagnosis, we discuss repair, adjustment, servicing or replacement. These tasks are separate from descaling and their scope is agreed before work; the visit time is arranged by phone.

When to call us

The most common situations

01

Falling flow

A tap or shower runs weaker than it used to.

02

Poorer hot-water performance

A longer heat-up time or unstable temperature.

03

Visible white deposits

Limescale marks on taps, aerators or the shower head.

04

Noises in the water heater

Crackling or hissing while heating, possible signs of deposits.

How it works

A simple three-step process

01

Symptoms

Tell us whether the problem affects flow, temperature or both.

02

Diagnosis

The installation is checked to rule out another cause.

03

Treatment

Descaling is carried out only on the compatible, relevant parts.

How we work

Why choose Van Molder

Diagnosis before repair

We look for the cause, not just the visible effect.

Clear explanations

Findings and options presented in plain language.

Home visits

The engineer comes to your address after a phone conversation.

Reachable 24/7

Time slot agreed by phone; immediate arrival not guaranteed.

Before you call us

What helps us prepare the visit

A few details are enough for a first conversation and to arrive with the right equipment.

  • The type of equipment concerned (water heater, boiler, taps)
  • The symptom: flow, temperature or both
  • If possible, the water hardness or descaling history
  • A photo of the visible deposits
Frequently asked questions

Your questions about this service

How do I know it is limescale?

A drop in flow, visible white deposits or poorer hot-water performance are clues. A check can confirm it.

Can all equipment be descaled?

No. We treat only the compatible, relevant parts, after a diagnosis.

How often should I descale?

It depends on the water hardness and the equipment. We advise you after examining the installation.

Can limescale be limited?

Regular servicing and, where suitable, appropriate water treatment help limit deposits. We discuss it with you.
